FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The following is a list of questions and answers to the most common concerns. If your question is not listed or you require additional clarification to an answer, please contact our Office during normal business hours.

Q: What to expect After scheduling transportation?
A: Once all the necessary information have been provided to our referral intake / scheduling department, your appointment will be entered into our system. The day before your scheduled trip, you will receive a phone call to confirm the trip for the next day.

Q: What to expect On the day of your scheduled transport service?
A: On the day of your trip we request that you be ready for transport at least 15 minutes prior to the pick-up time to ensure you arrive at your appointment without delay. Please take into consideration that some degree of unexpected circumstances may take place that we may not be able to arrive at exactly the pick-up time you requested. If this would occur, AMT will contact you by telephone to inform you of the delay and our approximate arrival time. Nevertheless, AMT will make all efforts in providing you the reliable and professional services we are dedicated to.
Once you have reached your destination; (unless AMT is escorting throughout your appointment, we will be with you) your driver will give you our phone number. In order for us to schedule your pick-up, please call the driver as soon as you learn what time you will be ready for your return trip. While we strive to be as efficient as possible, please understand that there may be a wait time for your return trip to begin, but should not exceed 30 minutes.

Q: Will my Insurance carrier cover transportation costs?

A: Insurance plans may cover medically necessary transportation depending on your specific insurance carrier's guidelines and policies. Your insurance carrier will also determine whether or not transportation is justified as “medically necessary according to their specific criteria. It is important to check with your insurance provider to understand and comply with all requirements for authorization and qualification for transportation.

Q: Will AMT bill my Insurance carrier directly?

A: NO. AMT currently accepts private pay only. AMT does accept cash, personal checks and all major credit cards as forms of payment for your convenience. You will be notified before the transportation is scheduled if a payment will be expected at the time of transport. Unless prior arrangements have been made, fees are collected at the end of each trip.

Q: What does Medicaid cover?

A: Medicaid will cover "medically necessary” transportation services for qualifying individuals. However, like all insurance carriers, there are different policies that have different requirements so it is recommended you check with your Medicaid program to better understand coverage for transportation services. Most Medicaid programs will not cover transportation for the convenience of the client and/or family and will only cover transportation for medical-related appointments.

ALLEGIANCE MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION DOES NOT ACCEPT MEDICARE/MEDICAID.

Q: How does AMT determine fees and rates?

A: Transportation costs typically include base rate charges, mileage fees and charges for any additional services or supplies (Ex. wait time, extra attendant, night call). We will provide you with an estimated total cost before the transportation occurs upon request. We will also provide you with an itemized statement of these charges. Our current rates are determined by many factors such as the cost of providing the service and other economic forces. We never charge hidden fees. You will never be billed extra for loading or un-loading fees or for bringing a companion to keep you company during the ride. Our rates are available by contacting our office.
